Be Kind To Me Today

On my way to work, I didn't have to scale any mountains, ford any rivers, or fend off any wild animals.
But I did have to deal with the Los Angeles Metro Transit system.

There are days when I think I would prefer the mountains, rivers, and wild animals.

Time to Add Some More Content

Just in case someone has been checking up on this blog (besides me, that is) and have noticed a complete lack of recent posts, it's because I've been concentrating on making the blog and feedback form look as good as I can. Unfortunately, that has left almost no time for writing, but that should change as the blog pretty much looks as good as I can get it at the moment. So here are a few near future plans:
1) Set up a static page to show the CSS and HTML code that I've added in case anyone is interested;
2) Add a static page giving credit to those who have helped me with said codes;
3) Maybe add a few more gadgets, such as a tag cloud, Los Angeles weather, and Los Angeles time;
4) write about jobs I've held and for which I've applied or will apply for;
5) give reasons why I think a potential employer should want to hire me, such as job experience and work ethic;
6) write about general work topics that I might find of interest; and,
7) find ways to promote my blog and make contact with potential employers.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you around, and have a great day!

Difficulty Understanding the Application Update Procedure

I don't know whether it's because I have just been fortunate, the hiring process was less complicated when I first entered the workforce, the types of jobs for which I have applied, or some combination of the above options or an entirely different reason, but my experience until recently always had been fill out an application, have a short interview, and then find out whether the manager wants to offer me a job (more often than not). These days, many businesses seem to expect an applicant to repeatedly call them to receive updates on his or her application status. Despite this, I still find it difficult to do so since it runs counter to how I was brought up. Back then, such behavior would be regarded as self-serving and a waste of time of whoever one was calling. "If the business is really interested", so the thinking went, "it will let you know. No need to go pestering them." Furthermore, even if such behavior directly correlated with how much the applicant wants to get the job, it still fails to demonstrate how much the applicant wants to do the job- which are two entirely different concepts.

Why WorkingestMan.blogspot.com?

The title is based on a comment by one of my former supervisors to the effect that I was the workingest man he had ever seen, except...

I didn't actually hear him say it. Instead, it's a statement that one of my co-workers claimed he said. As for the possibility that my willingness to believe her is simply a case of overinflated self-importance, I was the only one of approximately thirty workers who hadn't stopped working early to go on break at the time he is claimed to have said it and it's consistent with other statements that I did hear him say.

As for the purpose of this blog, I wanted to chronicle my search for a new and (I hope) better job and, if at all possible, use it as the means to help me land one. In other words, anyone looking for a new employee who finds what I have written interesting, he or she is more than welcome to fill out the contact form (see button on top left corner of the blog marked "Contact"). And for anyone who might know someone in such a position, I (with Blogger's help) have provided several handy share buttons at the top of the post.
